About The Daily Digi grab bag.

I received this email in my mailbox:

'Hi Cathy! I work with Janet at The Daily Digi, which is a new site. We are set up to mostly be a resource for scrappers in the community, but will have a grab bag available each month with contributions from quality designers in the community. We will post the grab bag and then be revealing each designers' contributions on their featured day on our site. The entire grab bag will be revealed before we retire it, so nobody will have to buy it without knowing everything that is in it first, if they want. People can just wait until the end of month if they want to know what is in the bag. This is where you come in (I'm sure you can see where I am going with this), we would like to ask you to refrain from posting any previews of our bag's contents until the entire bag has been revealed on our site. Do we have a deal?
THANKS
Stephanie'

I have decided, since they are going to reveal the bag before it's retired, not to reveal this bag on my blog.

Cathy

That's fine, but they won't get my business that way. I'm a busy person, I don't have time to check their site daily for the reveals, and I might or might not remember to check at the end of the month. If I had seen a reveal here today and liked the bag, I'd buy it right now. But without a reveal here, I probably won't remember to check for their reveal later.

How does it help them not to reveal the whole bag until just before it retires?? Honestly, I will not buy a bag until I see it & if I have to wait an entire month before I will see, chances are, I wont remember to buy it. Sorry but it sounds to me like they are cutting themselves off at the knees. How many others will not buy the bag because they wont see it?? Now that you have agreed to them, how many others are you going to agree not to reveal? I think you made a wrong choice here.

The Daily Digi is a great new site with information that is informative and instructional. I can understand their desire to use the grabbag consisting of contributions of various well-regarded designers as a marketing tool to introduce scrappers to their site and what it has to offer I just purchased the grabbag. I respect Cathy for considering their request and giving them a chance. Like every other purchase decision, you have a right to decline. But it is not fair to Cathy to berate her for a personal decision on her personal blog. She is under no obligationi to please any of us.

Best wishes.

What a load of hooey. They just lost my $5 . . . who has time to wait around for a month to see if you like something?

I guess I won't be bothering with the Daily Digi after all.

I agree with Patti and with Cathy's choice...enjoy some delayed gratification for once. It'll be your loss, as it's a GREAT buy for $5!

All you poo-poo'ers put yourself in their shoes...they're just getting started and trying to create something good. Give it a rest!

I totally respect that. I think that since they are offering a prize to the folks who buy it in the first week, it's totally understandable of them to ask you not to post it. I appreciate that you were respectful of their request.

I think Cathy made the right decision, since she was asked by the site, but I can admit that I will most likely forget to buy this bag now. I really don't forsee myself remembering to go to their site at the end of whatever their month is. End of the month? A month from now? I don't buy without a revel, its just not worth it.

Cathy c'mon why wait till the end of the month so we can see the whole thing, did you see the one this month it wasn't all that so no one wants to waste their $$ on something they don't want and that's the purpose of you having this site! IMO

I also agree that it's honorable of Cathy to abide by their request not to reveal. However, like many others, I most likely won't remember to check back for the reveals or purchase it. When I see a grab bag that I like revealed here, I buy it right away.

I didn't think twice about buying this bag since I knew who had contributed to it. The contents are amazing and TOTALLY worth the $5 price tag. There is way more value in here than I even expected.

I also conidered that when Janet put out her template grabs how generous she was and figured that these bags will be a great value too. I wasn;t wrong :-)

Cathy I thin you made the right choice for sure! I check the blog daily just because it contains a lot of cool information (like the Firefox add-on links etc) and Janet is a great writer too. It isn't a hardship to me to stop by and read the days entry.

Just wanted to add more support for Cathy and her decision not to reveal the bag, especially since she was nicely asked not to, and since the bag will be revealed anyway! If you're not interested in waiting around for the reveal, no loss to them, they're not doing it solely for the income, but more as a marketing tool to get people coming to their new site regularly. And honestly, I think their site rocks!!

BTW, two of the major designers who contributed have already been featured and their stuff revealed, so if you like Shabby Miss Jenn's stuff and/or Flerg's stuff, then it would be worth it already. Myself, I'm waiting a bit more to see what else they have in store.

I just bought it and it IS AWESOME! I think Cathy is making the right decision not to reveal the contents against their wishes. Those of you who miss out on the excellent products in the bag--it's your loss because this is the best grab bag I have EVER seen and worth WELL over the $5 price. We are talking about FULL KITS here, people! And they are NICE, from SUPER EXCELLENT designers. And unlike you "Anonymous" commenters, I'm not ashamed to post my name.

Thanks for this site, Cathy! :) You do a great job.

So far the reveals are not convincing me to buy the bag. Flergs' kit looks too boyish and the colors aren't my cup of tea. I've never bought from Shabby Miss Jenn, and I'm sure there are people who like previews laid out like hers, but the tiny little images make it hard for me to get an idea of what's in it. Hopefully the rest of the bag will impress me more.

I'm bummed I wasted my $5. Should have waited for the reveal. It's just not my kind of stuff (not that it isn't quality, because it IS), and I REALLY didn't like the weight loss journal thing. I don't buy digi-kits to be guilted ;)

I caved and bought the kit on the strength of the prizes and Heather Ann's name. But her contribution was a pre-made something I've never used, and will never use. Darn. I had such high hopes.

I also respect Cathy's decision not to reveal the bag! You ROCK, girl!!

I totally respect Cathy for honoring their request.

I think the idea is that you are supposed to read The Daily Digi every day...not wait until the end of the month just to see what was in the bag. They are just trying to encourage everyone to try their site out. If all you are interested in is the bag, then you are not getting the point of the site.

I really don't want to sound catty, but I'll admit I'm just not interested in reading what Janet Phillips thinks will inspire and challenge me. I find plenty of inspiration on my own, this blog holds nothing for me other than the grab bag. I totally get the point of the site, I'm just not interested.
